[Reproducible] with parallel installation of Master "LOdev " 3.7.0alpha0+ – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 1d1c70d]" (tinderbox: W2008R2@20, pull time 2012-06-18 08:23:14)

When I try to open document from LibO Start Center File menu LibO will stop responding.

Already a problem with LibO 3.3.3

@Rusbearing
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> will help you to find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing list
Please:
- In future write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the
  problem is
- Contribute info
  -- concerning your Operating System (Version, Distribution, Language)
  -- concerning your LibO version (with Build ID if it's not a public release)
     and localization (UI language, Locale setting)
  –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
    (video hardware acceleration ...)
   -- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

1. The file that makes LibreOffice stop responding is in attachment, can you open it on your system?

2. OS: Windows 7 Professional 32bit SP1 (russian)
LibreOffice version: 3.5.4.2 russian localization
LibreOffice settings: default

Already a problem with OOo 3.2-dev, so I believe problem is inherited from OOo

@Rusbearing
Thank your for quick response. It would be great if we could narrow down reasons for the hang a little bit. Do you have any Idea what what might be special with this document? May be your problem is related to one of the the bugs you see in query under URL?

Confirmed with:
LO 3.5.5.3
Build ID: own W7 debug build
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit

LO is unresponsive after loading the file. soffice.bin process eats memory and
creates new threads every xx minutes. I created a memory dump when it allocated
nearly 500 MB of RAM and processed it with WinDbg.

You are right. This file has bad formatting. But anyway LO should show it as Word shows or as it can show, but not hangs... Maybe the solution of this problem can help to solve other problems.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this.

I attached a bt retrieved by breaking at random.

Michael: one for you? (it seems a layout related calculation pb)

Dear Rusbearing,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
