Created attachment 167245 [details] Screen shot of LibreOffice Preferences There's something weird going on with text rendering, especially in the preferences menu. I have trouble reading that in MacOS, and have a migraine from trying to read that. Using Libreoffice 6.4.6.2 in MacOS 10.14.6, with Tinkertool to enforce "Old Style" font rendering, with a Benq GW2280 at 0% brightness, 30% contrast, 20% red, 30% green, 20% blue. I am sensitive to bright light, so I need to reduce screens below 0%, and am sensitive to strobing and animation, so I need to reduce red more than green.

This is most noticeable with preferences, but can be an issue with ordinary text. Using the same font settings, and same zoom, in both apps, the LibreOffice version is slightly larger, fuzzier, and in my opinion harder to read.
Did you try change they font smoothing style in TinkerTool? Look like kind subpixel hinting problem (Windows ClearType). And old style makes changes to they subpixels. They letters are simply very thin. Alternative maybe changing they default UI font. But only fiddled with that on Windows. Not sure how that can be done on macOS or even only for LibreOffice

For OP are you on Retina 4K/5K hardware? On a 10.14.6 macOS, seems related if not a dupe of bug 12218 (for Apple SDK 9 -> 10 issues), meaning upgrade to current 7.0.3 LibreOffice may resolve. distinct from folks on macOS 11.0.1 where we now have 138122 @Thorsten?
Yes, I forgot that I'm using old style + bold in TinkerTool. No, this monitor is 1920 x 1080. Searching for 12218 turns up an error.
Sorry my typo, but was on the see also list. bug 122218 and from there bug 138122 But then, distorted font rendering when down scaling by the Apple Quartz compositor onto a 1920x1080 display could be an entirely different issue. Different than these issues with Xcode 9 -> Xcode 10 SDKs (or for emerging Xcode 11--not yet in use for LO builds). May be, but might not be related.

I am not sure whether I understand the difference between the LibreOffice and NeoOffice screenshots right. Charecters rendered by NeoOffice seem to be a litte bit more opaque? As far as I know NeoOffice uses Java for font rendering. LibreOffice uses native macOS Core Text. As I do not know what settings are modified by Tinkertool I am sadly not able to give any hints based on the comparison of these screenshots.

The font rendering itself has improved in 7.0.1.4.2. But it's still very small and hard to read.
