This bug is that: LibreOffice selects the wrong font to display in the formula bar in the not-editing stage. When the formular bar is in editing stage, LibO seems to use Arial font, if I understand correctly, which is what supposed to be. The wrong font doesn't limit to Purisa font; sometimes LibO uses another font in the above zip file. I still can't figure which font LibO will use. 2. If the CTL option is enabled and set to Thai, or is disabled, this bug appears. If the CTL option is enabled and set to anything but Thai (such as Hindi or Telugu), font will not flip between editing and non-editing stage. Instead, LibO will use the wrong font in both editing and non-editing stage.
Correcting status to NEW as this was confirmed by Roman.
Narrowed this down to bibisect-win32-5.3, so it seems to be the move to HarfBuzz.

Reproducible with: Version: 6.0.5.2 Build ID: 54c8cbb85f300ac59db32fe8a675ff7683cd5a16 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL So I set the version field accordingly. In this 6.0 version, the behavior is same as in attachment 154315 [details]. The font switches between correct and wrong font when clicking formular bar.

The font in formula bar is wrong, as it is not the default system font as in version 5.2. Anyway, the font is not switching as in version 6. So, the bug was introduced in version 5.3 (wrong font, no font switching), and it was worse in version 6 and later (wrong font and font switching when click).

The layout engine has no influence on font selection, and there is nothing HarfBuzz related here. Per comment 9, this is somehow related to the CTL font settings I can’t reproduce this either (even after installing the fonts, and even on a fresh LO profile), so I suggest narrowing the Hardware fields to the OS where this has been reproduced (font selection and fallback are very OS-specific).
