Description rozek19 2018-07-15 20:08:28 UTC
Description:
Hello, in LibreOffice (6.0.5.2 x64 Build ID: 54c8cbb85f300ac59db32fe8a675ff7683cd5a16) Writer I set variable (in menu Insert → click on Insert fields = or press CTRL+F2 → go to Variables card → go to Set variable → choose one or in Name write its name → then in the Value field write its value). Then in page header I show the same variable. Despite the variable has been set, it is shown as 0.

Five years ago there was a similar question 14092 in LO 4.0.0.3, three years ago in LO 5.2.0.4 it still wasn’t changed, today in 6.0.5.2 it is still a bug…

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set variable (in menu Insert → click on Insert fields = or press CTRL+F2 → go to Variables card → go to Set variable → choose one or in Name write its name → then in the Value field write its value).
2. Then in page header I insert the same variable (CTRL+F2, instead of set variable, I use: set variable).

Actual Results:
Despite the variable has been set, it is shown as 0.

Expected Results:
The field should show the variable’s value (not 0).

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Yes, the variable is shown AFTER it has been set, inside the document.

Sometimes, because it worked, until it stopped working. I do not know, what happened, why it doesn’t work any more. Furthermore, it doesn’t work in new documents, neither.

Hi rozek,

I did not reproduce with

The name of the variable is "Autor".

(In reply to rozek19 from comment #5)
> The name of the variable is "Autor".

What do you have in Tools - Options - First Name ?
Comment 7 Jacques Guilleron 2018-07-17 16:44:51 UTC
Thank you for the sample, rozek,

Once changed the Author variable, this one has to be used as the first sevene fields availables in Insert > field. This means directly by selecting Author.
You are wrongly using the Author variable by using Insert > Field > More Fields...: Variables Tab: Show variable.
Comment 8 Jacques Guilleron 2018-07-17 16:49:18 UTC
Can you try it this way and confirm this works?
Thank you.
