Description Adam 2013-03-07 02:24:10 UTC
The font rendering is still bad in LO 4. I believe the trouble is in Apple Core Text, but I can't be sure. LO fonts look fuzzy, especially around the bottoms of characters. NeoOffice fonts don't, so it's a problem that can be fixed.
Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.0.1.2 release

I've put an attachment to show the problem. This post describes it:

44887 and 42082 describe the same problem.

Tested against LibreOffice 4.2.1.1 release. Still has the same issue.
OS X 10.9.2
Macbook Pro Retina

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open LibreOffice Writer
2) Type or paste in some text
3) Format as Times New Roman, size 12 with default zoom (100%)

Expected:
Clear easy to read letters.

Actual:
Blurry letters.

LibreOffice rendering compared to MS Office

Screenshot comparing LibreOffice (top) to MS Office (bottom). To clearly see the problem, view this on a HiDPI screen.
Comment 10 Riccardo Vianello 2014-06-21 21:41:12 UTC
With the resolution of the 1366x768 this rendering is not reproducible with the version 4.3.0 RC1.
Comment 11 Handyman 2014-08-15 00:42:50 UTC
Problem still exists in 4.3.0.4. It is easily reproducible. Its constant fuzziness (in my case on a non-retina display) Compare to NeoOffice and you'll see the difference. NeoOffice text is crystal clear.
Comment 12 retired 2014-08-15 08:24:19 UTC
Interesting find. Never noticed this until really looking and comparing - but it's true. And it persists in 4.3.1RC1 Version: 4.3.1.1
Build ID: c4b15cd4d00dec6b266fa830b4ba73e31ae6ce73

This is NEW not NEEDINFO.
Comment 13 Adolfo Jayme Barrientos 2015-04-24 08:51:07 UTC
Everyone please upgrade to 4.4.
