Tried to insert picture to Calc, that picture stayed in previously selected cell (before did insertion) on the upper left part of the picture. We can also anchor to cell.

Tested on LO 4.0.4.2 (Win7 32bit)

Please REOPENED this bug report if you don't agree & please provide detailed steps to show the problem (along with screenshot which is expected)

What was requested was to have an image anchored as character like in writer so all text positioning rules apply to the image and, like text, it can not escape the cell and all the controls that trigger when a cell is smaller than its content apply.

It is true that calc is able to fake insertion at the right point via cell anchoring at insertion time. However that is not the same thing at all, and when the document lives a cell anchoring does not behave like text insertion and as soon as cell size changes cell anchoring breaks big time

Hi, if you protect the position of the picture (right click > position and size > protect) it won't move from the cell/page it is anchored to. Cells are data container, that's not the case for Writer. Closing as Worksforme - Sophie

Drawback is that the cell size does not adapt to the image size. The user must adjust the width of cell to match the size of the image. This requires manual work and prevents the use of Optimal height (width) for the row (column, resp.).

I really do not understand how you close this as Worksforme.
This is a feature that works on Microsoft Office.

The necessity for this arises by things like sorting cells, where the image stays in place, although anchored at cell.
